Rocking Together: A Month of Giving, Community, and Yacht Rock Joy

September 17, 2025

From August 27 through September 10, The Hickman community came together for our 4th Annual Rock-A-Thon: Yacht Rock Edition, a four-week online fundraiser that blended fun, friendly competition, and meaningful impact. Each week, teams from Operations, Personal Care, and Memory Care took turns rocking to raise support for the Hickman Resident Assistance Fund, which helps ensure residents facing financial challenges can continue receiving the care and services they rely on.

The weekly rocking sessions became a shared rhythm across campus. Residents, staff, families, and supporters tuned into live streams to cheer on teams, follow leaderboard updates, and celebrate the collective effort. What stood out most was the sense of connection—rocking chairs symbolized not just movement, but momentum, unity, and generosity.

All of that energy carried into the Rock-A-Thon Party on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, where the community gathered to celebrate in true yacht rock style. With music filling the patio and residents front and center, the afternoon was filled with dancing, singing, and joyful moments shared across generations. We were honored to welcome Josh Lee, Police Chief of the West Chester Borough Police Department, who offered opening remarks and spent time engaging with residents and students from West Chester Friends School—moments that captured the true spirit of community partnership.

This year’s Rock-A-Thon was made possible through the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Serenity Hospice Care, and our Rock Star Sponsor, Johnson Kendall Johnson, along with dedicated board members, volunteers, partners, and friends of The Hickman.

Rock-A-Thon continues to remind us that community is not just something we have—it’s something we build together. And when we rock together, the impact lasts far beyond the final song.
