July 1, 2021

Independence Day is right around the corner, and that means time spent with family, fireworks, and delicious food. But what better way to enjoy the 4th of July than with some healthy recipes to make with mom and dad? Check out some of the recipes many families will be enjoying this holiday.

Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil Skewers

These easy pickings are perfect to snack on this summer! All you need are mozzarella balls, basil leaves, and cherry tomatoes. Also, add some extra-virgin olive oil and some salt and pepper. Thread mozzarella, basil, and tomato onto a mini skewer and drizzle some olive oil, salt, and pepper – voila it’s ready to snack on!

Bite-sized Strawberry and Brie

This bite-sized snack is not only refreshing but easy to make too! To start, make sure you have strawberries, basil leaves, brie cheese, and balsamic glaze. Thread the strawberry, basil, and piece of brie cheese onto toothpicks. When you are done drizzle the balsamic to finish it off.

Classic Hummus

Who doesn’t like a healthy dip to enjoy? This easy-to-make hummus is a nutritious and delicious snack to create with your loved one. You will need smashed and peeled garlic cloves, rinsed chickpeas, lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, tahini, and salt. In a mixer add the garlic, until minced, add chickpeas, lemon juice, oil, tahini, and salt. Mix until smooth. Don’t forget to add your sides! Sliced bell peppers or carrots are a great healthy choice!
