Brett Walker began painting with oils at the age of 14. At the age of 18, he declined a scholarship to Cornell University and embarked upon a self-study tour of the major art museums of America and Europe. Traveling throughout Europe, he studied the great masters and immersed himself in their environment. In his mid-twenties, he began experimenting with pastels and sculpture. As a true multimedia artist, he also devotes himself to film and performance art. He lives in West Chester Borough.
Walker is inspired by human form and expression. His table is a fine depiction of his painting style which uses the “suggestion” of the eye, nose and mouth to convey the complexities of human existence, with its joys and struggles. Brett spent many years painting and working in France. His table shows the human face in its most elemental form, reminiscent of the use of the African mask motif that inspired modern artists like Picasso and Braque working in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century.
