Amory Stedman

Amory Stedman

Amory Stedman is mostly a self taught artist.  Growing up in an artistic and arts aware family, many of whose members painted in various mediums, she learned about design and color by osmosis.  She started painting while she was raising children.  During that time she studied with Cyril Gardner at the Main Line Art Center for many years.  More recently she studied with Carol Kardon.  She has participated in workshops and symposiums at The Chester County Art Association.  She has been in juried art shows at Saint David Church, Squirrel Art Gallery, Agnes Irwin School, Unionville Art Gala, and the Waterfall Gallery.  She is a juried member of the Artists Guild of Delaware County.  Her paintings are owned by friends and private collectors.

Painting primarily in oils, she is most interested in creating an atmosphere and/or a mood or a memory.  She hopes to capture an image focused on light and feeling for the viewer, - a place to return to often, to be entertained by, and perhaps to ask questions about.

Amory also paints wooden objects such as chests, book shelves, mirrors, trays, jewelry and trinket boxes, and lazy susans.  These items can be special ordered and personalized for special occasions.

Amory is a second year Art of Caring artist!
