Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1:

When is the right time to consider a move to a personal care community?

The best time to think about a personal care community is while you are still active and wish to continue an independent, healthy life. The relief of the burdens of home ownership and chores of everyday life opens up worlds of possibilities for enjoying community activities and experiencing new outlets for growth.

Question 2:

What distinguishes The Hickman from other communities?

The Hickman has been a part of the Borough of West Chester for more than one hundred  years. We are situated on a beautiful park-like campus, within walking distance of the heart of town. Our environment is uniquely gracious, warm, and home like. Our Quaker heritage insures the highest level of caring commitment to our residents, and our involvement within the greater community allows for vibrant interaction.

The Hickman’ Resident Care Department is available 24/7 to provide personal care and assistance tailored to each individual. Residents are assessed prior to admission and thereafter annually to determine the proper level of care required.
